What do you do for your TCT clinic?

I am the nurse practitioner for the TCT clinic.

Why did you pursue a career in oncology, and specifically BMT care?

Becoming a bone marrow transplant nurse practitioner is an extraordinary calling, one that requires a blend of compassion, expertise, and an unwavering dedication to making a real difference in people’s lives. The journey of a bone marrow transplant patient is a challenging one — often marked by uncertainty, fear, and physical hardship — but it is also a journey of hope and possibility. As a nurse practitioner in this field, I have the profound privilege of walking alongside these patients and their families at one of the most pivotal moments in their lives.

This path more than just administering treatments or managing symptoms. It is about being a vital part of a patient's journey through their darkest moments and celebrating their victories, big or small. As a BMT Nurse Practitioner, I am a trusted guide through the intricacies of stem cell or bone marrow transplants, navigating the difficult decision-making, side effects, and recovery process with patients and their families. The role demands a deep level of expertise in hematology, immunology, and oncology, but it also requires an innate ability to connect, listen, and offer the human side of care.

Being a bone marrow transplant nurse practitioner touches the emotional and psychological resilience of both the patient and their loved ones. I help create an environment where hope can thrive in the face of adversity, and witness the strength and courage of individuals who are fighting for their lives. In doing so, I will not only be shaping their futures, but also helping to build a lasting legacy of care that influences the future of bone marrow transplant patients everywhere.
