Features of our marrow transplant program
Sarah Cannon Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program at MountainView Hospital is recognized internationally by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) for adult autologous transplantation and immune effector cell therapy (IECT). FACT has high standards for cellular therapy, requiring facilities to have a robust infrastructure that meets the full range of care, including:
- Administration of the cellular therapy
- Collection and processing of the cells
- Diagnosis and referral
- Long-term follow-up and reporting
- Preparative regimens
- Selection of the appropriate cellular therapy product
- Supportive care after administration
Accredited cellular therapy programs have the ability to deliver accurate cellular therapy, at the right time, with the proper level of assistance.
Dedicated transplant services
We perform autologous transplants to fight blood cancers. These are blood and marrow transplants, often called stem cell transplants, where individuals use their own stem cells to replace any diseased or damaged bone marrow.
If you need to undergo a blood and marrow transplant, hospitalization is required at some point during the process. The length of the hospital stay will vary based on the type of transplant and your health condition. Our oncology unit was specially built to meet your unique needs.
Oncology alert patient care program
Sarah Cannon Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program at MountainView Hospital offers an oncology alert patient care program. We are the only program in the region focusing on promptly identifying and treating immunocompromised individuals who arrive through the cancer clinic or the emergency room (ER). The program provides special training to ER and clinic teams to identify and address the unique needs of those going through chemotherapy.

Other treatments
In addition to our transplant services, our oncologists offer a range of treatment options for blood cancer. The type of blood cancer treatment you receive depends on the type of cancer you have, your overall health and many other factors. Our teams will work with you to determine the best care plan for your unique needs. Some of the treatments we offer include:
- Blood transfusion – Blood transfusions using cells donated by healthy volunteers can help replace red cells, platelets and other blood components in blood cancer patients.
- Chemotherapy – Chemotherapy is often combined with other treatments and administered either in our center or at home. Regimens are either myeloablative or non-myeloablative and work to destroy lymphocytes that have become self-intolerant.
- Immunotherapy – Immunotherapy, including CAR T–Cell therapy, is a novel therapy that helps a person's immune system recognize and fight cancer. It can also help patients boost their own immune systems so that they can destroy cancer cells. The type of immunotherapy you receive depends on what stage of cancer you have.
- Targeted therapy – This therapy targets proteins that have control over how cells grow and spread. Targeted therapy mostly comes in the form of small-molecule drugs or monoclonal antibodies. It does not target normal cells and is different than standard chemotherapy, which may damage normal, healthy cells.
