Dr. Alfred Danielian, sports cardiologist with MountainView Hospital’s Las Vegas Heart Associates (LVHA) recently published the first clinical reference document for Pediatric Sports Cardiology in the prestigious Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC).

This 2025 JACC State-of-the-Art Review landmark publication addresses the unique challenges of cardiovascular care for pediatric athletes, emphasizing that clinical management, risk assessment and exercise recommendations must be tailored to the developmental and physiological differences from adult athletes.

It provides detailed guidance on pre-participation screening, diagnostic evaluation and condition-specific management with a strong emphasis on shared decision-making involving the child, family and care team. As a clinical statement publication, it will serve as a foundational reference for clinicians involved in the cardiovascular care of pediatric athletes.

“I’m incredibly honored to have contributed to the first clinical reference document for pediatric sports cardiology, an important milestone for our field and an important step forward in advancing cardiovascular care for young athletes,” Dr. Danielian said.

Dr. Danielian is the governor-elect for American College of Cardiology, Nevada Chapter. He is a leader in the field of Sports Cardiology, servicing as the team cardiologist for numerous Las Vegas-based professional sports franchises. Additionally, he has been a champion for the Smart Heart law in Nevada, working tirelessly to have it pass the Nevada Legislature to ensure that AEDs are accessible in all high schools during sporting events.
