Las Vegas, Nev. — MountainView Hospital and Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare’s Far West Division, have both been named among PINC AI’s™ 100 Top Hospitals® rankings for 2024. For 30 years the 100 Top Hospitals® program has been producing annual studies designed to recognize the nation’s highest performing hospitals.

“The PINC 100-Top Hospitals recognition is well-deserved for the MountainView team, who delivers safe and quality care day in and day out to our patients and community,” said Hiral Patel, MountainView Hospital chief executive officer. “This recognition honors the hard work by so many people to create a culture of safety and is a testament to the focus by all colleagues to accurate, safe care to every patient, every time.”

"I'm thrilled Southern Hills Hospital has been recognized as one of the top 100 hospitals for the third consecutive year by Fortune and PINC AI,” said Southern Hills Hospital Chief Executive Officer Alexis Mussi. “This prestigious accolade reaffirms our commitment to excellence in patient care and highlights the dedication of our entire team. We are honored to be consistently recognized among the best in the nation and see that our efforts in patient safety and care are being recognized at a national level."

This year, based on comparisons between the study’s top performers and a peer group of similar hospitals, the analysis found the top performers of the 100 Top Hospitals® program delivered better outcomes while operating more efficiently and at a lower cost.

Compared to peer hospitals, this year’s top performers had:

  • 0.5-day shorter average length of stay.
  • 26.6 percent fewer patients with complications.
  • 30.6 percent fewer healthcare-associated infections.
  • A 21.1 percent lower inpatient expense per discharge.
  • 39 percent fewer inpatient deaths than peer hospitals.
  • Better reported patient experience scores, with a top-box Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems score of 73 percent versus 67 percent for peer hospitals.

PINC AI™ is the technology and services brand of Premier, Inc.  The full list of recognized hospitals was published by Fortune.  The goal of the 100 Top Hospitals® program is to inspire hospital and health system leaders to strive for higher performance and provide added value to the communities they serve. These measurements, in a transparent manner, help give health system leaders the ability to compare their performance to that of their competitors by using objective, reliable and significant indicators of operational excellence.
