Las Vegas, Nev. — In recognition of World Breastfeeding Week (August 1–7), Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center is spotlighting the critical role of lactation support. We offer the unique ability to help families with certified lactation consultants on-site.

“Breastfeeding, although natural, is not always easy and immediate,” said Nurse Agnes Schaffer. “My purpose is to assist families in breastfeeding so that they can define and achieve their own personal lactation goals.” Nurse Agnes Schaffer, BSN, RNC-NIC, IBCLC has decades of experience caring for newborns in intensive care and brings unmatched compassion and clinical expertise to mothers navigating the challenges of breastfeeding. She works one-on-one with families at Southern Hills Hospital to provide personalized education, reassurance and guidance from the very first latch.

World Breastfeeding Week, coordinated by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA), raises awareness of the proven health benefits of breastfeeding for both infants and mothers. It also highlights the importance of skilled lactation support, especially in hospital settings. According to the CDC, Nevada has one of the lowest breastfeeding rates in the country.
