Las Vegas, Nev. — Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center is using breakthrough technology for the treatment of complex heart rhythm disorders. In the next two weeks, the hospital will launch this advanced system, marking a significant advancement in cardiac electrophysiology.

Dr. Arjun Gururaj, a highly skilled electrophysiologist with Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center, will lead the implementation of this new technology. Dr. Gururaj is renowned for his expertise in performing complex atrial fibrillation (AFib) ablations.

"We are committed to providing our patients with the most innovative and effective treatments available," said Todd P. Sklamberg, Sunrise Hospital CEO. "This new technology underscores that commitment and will allow us to offer a new level of care for patients with complex cardiac arrhythmias."

This development builds upon Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center's earlier success with Pulse Field Ablation (PFA), a pioneering technique in the field of electrophysiology. The new system represents the second generation of this technology, offering substantial improvements in procedural accuracy and efficiency through the integration of an advanced mapping system.

The new system's enhanced mapping capabilities will enable physicians to more precisely target and treat the areas of the heart causing abnormal rhythms, potentially leading to improved outcomes and shorter procedure times.

As part of the Sunrise Health System, Sunrise Hospital & Medical Center's adoption of cutting-edge cardiac electrophysiology technology reinforces its position as a regional leader in the treatment of heart rhythm disorders. This advancement builds on a strong foundation of innovation across the system: MountainView Hospital became the first in Nevada to perform Pulsed Field Ablation (PFA) in July 2024, and Southern Hills Hospital followed with its first successful atrial fibrillation ablation using advanced cryoballoon technology in August 2024. Together, our network of hospitals is uniquely positioned to deliver the most advanced cardiac care and technology to patients across the community.
