Dr. Poelstra completed medical school at the University of Groningen in his native country, The Netherlands and successfully completed his PhD in Biomedical Engineering in collaboration with a research Institute in Northern Virginia. He then moved to Charlottesville, VA, to complete his Orthopedic Residency at The University of Virginia, followed by a prestigious Orthopedic- and Neurological Spine Fellowship at The Rothman Institute (Thomas Jefferson University) in Philadelphia, PA.
