Meet the ER team, nurses who care for you

Meet the ER team and one of our amazing ER nurses.

Emergency Room nurse Johneil M. will celebrate 20 years with MountainView's ER this November 2025. He currently works as at CNC (charge nurse) with our ERs and rotates through our sites. You might see him at our main ER or one of our freestanding ERs - ER at Aliante, ER at Skye Canyon or our soon-to-open ER at Skye Hills.

We caught up with Johneil at ER at Aliante recently and asked him to reflect on his time working at the best ERs in Las Vegas.

Q: Why did you pursue a career as a nurse?

A: When I was in high school, I wanted to see myself wearing a white uniform, it was a dream for me wearing all white. I thought I could be a priest because I grew up Catholic and I went to a Catholic school. I also thought I could be a sailor/Navy guy. But when my uncle, who is a physician told me that nurses also wear white uniforms and there's plenty of nursing opportunities everywhere... that made me think. Being a nurse, would fulfill myself, in a white uniform, and an opportunity to help and care for the people in my community and could positively impact someone else's lives. (But now many of us wear blue scrubs!)

Q: What do you want people to know about getting care at one of our ERs?

A: I want people to know that they will only get the best care in our ERs, nothing less. We are committed to caring and compassion at the highest level. Our ER has a strong team of highly qualified providers, nurses, ancillary staff and volunteers. Highly trained with empathy, compassion, dedication we maintain high ethical standards. Our ERs prioritize patient centered-care and safety with privacy and respect. We utilize up-to-date technologies and foster a culture of continuous improvement, seeking ways to enhance patient care and outcomes.

Q: Is there a moment in your career that stays with you that you can share?

A: Yes. When we first opened ER at Aliante, there was a patient who got dropped off by his in-laws. Security paged me that there was a patient inside the car needing assistance getting out of the car. I went out, opened the door and I saw a young adult sitting in the backseat. He was blue, unresponsive and not breathing and he was incontinent of urine. I immediately started CPR in the car and paged my team for help. We got him into our code room, continued CPR, shocked him- after our highly effective ALS, we got him back to life (return of spontaneous circulation) and transferred him immediately to the MountainView Hospital cath lab. A few days later, he walked out of MountainView hospital without any deficits. I was very happy and so proud of the team. The ER at Aliante team was very happy. It was fulfilling.

Q: When you are not caring for patients, what do you do?

A: I'm a homebody! I spend time with my family, we like to eat outside, breakfast, lunch and dinner. I enjoy watching TV series and movies at home. I love watching sports ta home, esp. NFL & NBA - I am a fan of Raiders and LA Lakers.

Q: Anything else you'd like to share?

A: Yes. I just want to share that in our ER; we have a great team. From our ER leadership down to staff. Everyone is awesome, we have a great team work.
